3 Ways to Detoxify Your Bathroom

What we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them. I’m currently in midst of a major bathroom makeover, and not the home renovation kind. I’m talking the detoxifying- turning your bathroom “clean” kind. It absolutely blows my mind how many toxins and chemicals we come across on a day to day basis, many of which are in our everyday personal hygiene products. While I’ve always known this and have tried to jump on the natural bandwagon numerous times, I’ve always gotten intimidated and jumped right off. But with health concerns arising and serious questioning going on, I’ve decided to fully make the commitment over to the clean side.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or rolling your eyes right about now, I TOTALLY get it. I was scared to death for years to really look into the ingredients in my products and face the reality of the harm I was doing to my body. By inviting all of you on my journey to making the huge switch, I’m here to help and try to make it less scary for you.

Personally, I feel my skincare routine is the most important place to start. However, with that being one heck of a beast, I’m still in the middle of trying new products to share with you guys. So more on that is coming later!

For now, I feel the best place to start is with the basics. The 3 things you use every.single.day. Because if you think about it, you come in contact with these products on a daily basis, sometimes even more than once! By “cleaning” up the basics and transitioning from the ground up, it will make a major difference in your overall health and give you more confidence to slowly turn over the rest of your bathroom.

1. Soap/Body Wash

Everyday we hop in the shower, looking to clean off the day’s toxins and feel refreshed and rejuvenated. What if I told you that what you were lathering up on your body everyday was actually full of toxins itself?! Don’t worry…here are my 2 favorite body washes that I’m currently using. (*bonus: Dr. Bronner’s is useful for pretty much everything! Yep, just read the bottle.)

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Body Wash

2. Toothpaste

Yep you guessed it! ‘Cause this goes in your mouth multiple times a day. You don’t have to sacrifice minty fresh breath when swapping over to a more natural alternative though.

3. Deodorant

Rubbing a chemical, aluminum filled deodorant under you arms sounds absolutely awful when you think about it. And unfortunately most of us do. After seeing this product on Shark Tank a couple years ago, I decided to give it a try and I’ve loved it every since. It actually works! I’ve tried multiple natural alternatives and this one is by far my favorite.
