Happy Cinco de Mayo! I’m all about a good excuse to drink margaritas and eat endless chips and salsa. Especially when it falls on a Friday! Hallelujah! I’ve been inspired to try re-creating an avocado margarita I had on the cruise ship (more on that later). I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I got home! It was seriously so delicious. The avocado adds a creaminess that you don’t get in a traditional shaken margarita. Plus, knowing it was full of avocado’s good fats made it even better! [Keep reading for full recipe]
To create my own avo-rita recipe, I started with a margarita’s basic ingredients: tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice. I then thought of what I wanted to add to make it my own. Obviously, this is where the avocado comes in. But I also decided to add a bit of jalapeño and cilantro for an extra kick. This is totally optional though.
From there, it was quite simple. First, muddle the avocado slices, fresh lime juice, jalapeño, and cilantro (if using) in a cocktail shaker. Then, add the tequila, triple sec, and ice. Next, comes the fun part…shake vigorously. And there’s absolutely no shame if you do it while dancing to Beyonce. Shake it girl 😉
Prepare your glass by wetting the rim. Dip into a shallow bowl or plate with a mixture of sea salt and lime zest. Pour contents of shaker into your glass filled with ice. Sip and enjoy! Easy peasy, but oh so delicious! I hope you love it as much as I do.
**I totally hate saying this part, but I feel like out of integrity and responsibility, I owe it to you guys. So of course, drink and enjoy responsibly. Now go party your a$$ off. 😉
