With Spring fast approaching, I decided it was time to try out a few new things and give my cosmetics collection a little refresher. That’s basically what they mean by “spring cleaning,” right? I wanted to incorporate pretty shades of pink and subtle tones of shimmer to brighten things up. I also needed coverage and protection to be a priority. The products I picked up have quickly become some of my favorites and I’m super excited to share them with you guys!
1.| Butter London “ICONOCLAST” Mascara: $20
I received this in my most recent FabFitFun box and to be honest, I wasn’t so sure how I liked it. I love how black and bold it makes your lashes, but I’m not sure how I feel about the applicator brush. The narrow part is perfect for my top lashes and I really do think it lengthens them. The round ball at the tip has been a struggle. After reading some reviews, everyone else seems to love the brush, but for me it makes it really difficult to cover my bottom lashes without smudging. But for how well it applies on the top without clumping, maybe I’m just doing something wrong (haha). It feels more like a paint than any other mascara I used, which helps it go on super smooth and sleek. Definitely going to keep using it and see if it grows on me because it really makes my top lashes look amazeballs!
2.| Chanel Correcteur Perfection Concealer (I use #31 beige rose): $42
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this concealer! I struggle to find a concealer that doesn’t clog my pores, but still gives me coverage without being cakey. This concealer was the answer to my prayers! It is creamy, while still being lightweight. It offers great coverage while also correcting the skin and brightening skin tone. I use it under my eyes, on my eyelids to take away redness, and on any blemishes or acne marks. It blends well, stays throughout the day, and has not affected my ultra-sensitive skin. Couldn’t recommend this more!
3.| Chanel CC Cream (I use #20): $55
I guess I was on a Chanel kick this beauty haul because I ended up with both this CC cream and the concealer. But they make an awesome combo! This CC cream is magical. I’ve switched from tinted moisturizer, to foundation, back to tinted moisturizer, only to feel disappointed and unsatisfied. Foundations seem to be too heavy for my skin on a daily basis, but tinted moisturizers haven’t offered enough coverage to hide my acne marks. My favorite beauty consultant at Nordstrom recommended this to me and I fell in love the first time I ever put it on. It is think and creamy when you squeeze it out of the tube, but feels surprisingly lightweight and velvety soft when applied to your skin. With hyaluronic acid and SPF 50, it protects and nourishes your skin while also giving you the coverage you want. Double bonus. This is definitely going to become a staple for me.
4.| Arcona Desert Mist: $38
This stuff is a total game changer! If you are looking for something to protect you from environmental pollutants and create a barrier between your skin and your makeup base, this is the perfect product. It’s a brownish colored liquid (sounds weird I know) that comes in a pump dispenser bottle. Put on one pump after your moisturizer in the morning and allow it to set for a few minutes (I like to pick out my outfit or make coffee while I wait for it to set). This helps my makeup stay, prevents breakouts, and even helps with dry skin. It also lasts quite a while, I just bought my second bottle after having my first one for almost 6 months. Totally worth every penny!
5.| NARS Blush (in “orgasm”): $30
This is a staple in my cosmetics collection, hence why I just repurchased another one to take me into spring. The color is perfectly pink without looking too rosy (especially if you’re fair skinned like me) and the shimmer adds just the right amount of glow when the sun hits. Clearly, they named this product for a reason, because it is truly mind blowing. (yes girls, you all know exactly what I’m talking about.)
6.| Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon (in “petal kiss”): $18
Lip crayons have never really been my thing. I’m usually a lipstick or lipgloss kinda girl. But I decided to try this one from Honest Beauty after seeing it was an “Allure Best of Beauty” winner. I actually love this lip crayon! It is a great sheer rose shade that feels smooth and silky when you apply it. It has coconut oil, murumuru butter, and shea butter so it actually moisturizes, while also providing a bit of color. It is quick and convenient, which is a major bonus for me since I like a more simple makeup routine. Definitely a must-try for spring.
